Presentations Review

For our presentations, we spoke and delve into intercultural communication and why it is important to our society and communities. This includes the basis of Culture, Ethnicity, Sexuality, Religion and many other properties of such topics.  Introducing Chapter 3, the speaker talks about most of the main properties of cultures and global traits such as shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and norms. These are all things that both divide and bring closer the people of our society, whether we like it or not. These first two slides also delve into Dominant cultures and culture shock, which is when a culture is way more adapted than others around the world, and when someone struggles to adapt to a new culture being a popular or unpopular one. The way the slides is presented is simple with a couple of images to show the point, though I feel it could have been more stylized. For Culture and Communication, the speaker goes into what culture actually is, and how different culture co-exist in ...

#1 Blog

#1 Blog: First Presentations Group presentations form part of everyday life in higher learning institutions and the workplace. They offer the opportunity to share, collaborate efforts, and communicate knowledge. My group has just concluded the presentation on Intercultural Communication, and we covered many areas that touched on the subject. I will reflect on the experience as I cover difficulties faced while collaborating and lessons that I have learned. Planning and Preparation At the start we created the Whatsapp group to communicate better and it was kind of messy. In retrospect, this disorganization was one of the major obstacles we needed to get out of our way immediately. The messy nature of our initial planning meant our progress was slow, and the structure of the presentation was not clear, but just before the presentation day, we managed to reorganize the work. We re-allocated the subtopics to different group members and determined a logical order in which to present our...

Presentations reflections

Being the first group to present was a little intimidating and stressful. Since the class is online, the pressure was lessened, but we still felt the need to perform well because we were the group leading by example. There was a little problem with the way the chapters were divided. We did not initially arrange the sections in a specific order. Without taking order into account, we selected passages from the chapter at random. At first, we intended to provide the sections in the same sequence as the book. However, the presentation became disjointed because of a lack of clarity. Because of the inconsistent links between sections, the presentation felt fragmented. The quantity of text on our slides may be improved, though. Instead of using short bullet points, some slides used long paragraphs, which would have made it harder for the audience to understand the content. Our presentation would have been better with more visuals and simpler text. The utilization of videos was another problem...

Chapters Three, Nine, and Ten Review

I think we did an amazing job during our first class presentation. All groups covered their objectives with great success. The first presentation, which was presented by group number one—my group—talked about intercultural communication. The second presentation was about communication in groups, and the final presentation was about group leadership and problem-solving. In this blog, I will present a short summary of the content shared by all three groups during the presentation. The first presentation was based on chapter three, which was created by group one. All content related to this chapter is about cultures and how they communicate. Culture is defined as the common beliefs and values of a group of people. Common beliefs are shaped by repeated experiences that the group has had. For example, if the group finds that a certain type of food has caused several problems for some of its members, eventually, the group will form a common thought about that food, which, with enough time, w...

Reflecting On Our Presentations

Group presentation play a vital role when it comes to academic and professional life, letting people collaborate, share knowledge and talk to each other effectively. Recently my group and I presented our project and it was about Intercultural Communication, where we explored key aspects. In this blog, I will talk about my experience and discuss the challenges of our group work.     For Planning and Preparation when we went to our first break out rooms we made our WhatsApp group and we all joined, we did not talk much and we did not know who was working on what sub chapter. We were disorganized when it came to picking on what sub chapter as some of my group members, including me, picked sub chapters that were not in order. For example the sub chapters I chose were 3-3f, 3-3h and 3-3e. It was not in order and we did not know who was presenting first and who was presenting last. Couple of days later no some progress have been made on the presentation but...
